Nixa Christian Church is a part of the Disciples of Christ (D.O.C.) Christian denomination that emerged in the United States during the early 19th century.

Founded by a group of Protestant ministers, the D.O.C. sought to unify the various Christian denominations and restore the practices of the early Christian church.

By following a decentralized structure, the D.O.C. allows each congregation to operate independently from one another, while still united under a common set of beliefs and practices.

Today, the Disciples of Christ Christian denomination has approximately 450,000 members across the United States and Canada.
